Well Hello There

So my internet router decided to die a fantastic and terrible death over the past week, and I have been fighting with mobile WordPress ever since. I’ve finally slayed the mobile WordPress beast! Lol so after a brief break I’m back!

Hmm…. what’s been going on? Nothing of spectacular importance. Well other than the fact that I finished up the guest room and bathroom this week. It’s all decorated, painted, and pretty. I don’t know how long it will STAY that way but right now, it’s awesome right now. Lol. I’m planning on finishing Nora’s room today, and this weekend we’re going to finish the living room and hallway. After that the only thing left is the third bedroom and we’ll be ready to finish moving in!

I’ve been slowly moving things every day this week. Taking one small box here and there. Thus far it seems to be working out okay that way. I’ve snuck most of the cook ware and all of the groceries to the house, and every time we do a load of laundry it gets “left behind”. Really the only thing we NEED to move to never have to come back to the apartment would be the beds. That’s currently all we’re doing at the apartment. Sleeping. We come back, go to bed, wake up in the morning and go back to the house. Most days before breakfast even.

Although we really can’t move completely in until we finish our bed room. Lol. It just needs drywall and paint to be habitable. We need to find carpet too, but that’s mostly a luxury at this point. I just want to be MOVED IN already!! Especially since I have to spend all of my time there and I’m running out of projects… lol

Anyway… the dog needs something so I better go. Until later Bloggies!

Happy Anniversary!

Bloggies, our little trip was the best little trip I have been on in a very long time with my amazing Hubs. We didn’t even have to travel too far out of the way to get there.

It started Friday afternoon. My sisters and dad came up to watch Nora and our dog while we were out and about. They arrived around noon, and after we finished taking Boris to the vet for the THIRD time in three weeks we met them, left instructions, gathered a few things and headed off.

I had no idea where we were going. Kevin (Hubs) randomly decided on a destination literally an hour before we left. We drove about an hour south of Nowheresville and ended up in Nashville Indiana. It was a really cute little touristy type town. It really reminded me of all of the pictures I’ve seen of mountain towns in Colorado and those places out West. I liked it almost immediately. Because we are fly by the seat of our pants random people we had neglected to book a hotel room BEFORE we arrived. Since it was the off season we weren’t too concerned with it, but we probably should have planned a little better. lol. We stopped at the local BP and got a hotel guide and flipped through it a few times. We decided on a hotel but when I was calling them I dialed the wrong number and Kevin turned the page. We flipped back through the guide several times but couldn’t find the one we were originally looking for, but the add for Comfort Inn caught my eye. I decided we should call them, being one of the big chains they should most definitely have a room even if we couldn’t find another quaint little bed and breakfast room some where. I dialed the number, asked the gentleman at the front desk a few questions and our extreme flakyness paid off. We got the King Suite which was normally $150 per night at a super discount rate of only $76!! That was less than the average price of a normal Β room anywhere else we had looked at. Needless to say, we stayed there. lol.

It had been SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO long since I had stayed at a “real” hotel it was great. A relaxing soak in the whirlpool tub, a champagne toast and plenty of uninterrupted snuggle time with my hubby, free breakfast, and an ultra friendly staff. It was pretty much everything I had wanted to do right there. lol.

Before we did the toasting, and all of that we went out to a little tavern/brewery for dinner. The Big Woods Brewery, and it was DELICIOUS. It’s kind of sad but one of the most exciting things for me on this entire trip was the quality of the produce served with the food. Yes. How lame is that? Anyway… Kevin had a super delicious pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw and a beer flight of some of the signature beers. I feasted on a delicious spinach, cranberry, bacon, almond salad, and a Ghirardelli brownie that was almost as big as my face. lol. It was INSANELY delicious, although being one of the more popular restaurants in the area we thought it was going to be a little bit bigger. It was straight out of a movie. With the bar, the outside patio and the dining room they could seat probably fifty people. It was all part of the experience which made it awesome, even though one of the locals was very drunk, sitting right behind me at the bar and kept bumping my chair. lol.

After dinner we returned to the hotel for a nice relaxing evening to ourselves. We hadn’t actually had a nice relaxing evening to ourselves since before Nora was born. Actually we’ve never really had just a completely relaxing get away to ourselves since we’ve been married. This was technically our Honeymoon as well as an Anniversary thing. We got married right as we were moving back to Nowheresville and getting back on our feet after both being unemployed for a while. We didn’t have the money to go do anything really, and then last year I was pregnant so again we had to use our money for other things. This year is the first year we’ve actually been able to properly celebrate. πŸ™‚

Saturday morning after a nice long sleep in our ultra comfy bed, we got up pretty early, ate breakfast, checked out, and headed back into town to do some more exploring. Being a small touristy type town it is all locally owned businesses so most of them don’t have set hours. It’s really when people feel like coming in and opening the doors. Everything was closed around 8pm the night before so we really didn’t get to see anything. We walked around and visited a whole variety of eclectic little shops for three hours then stopped for lunch at another little local restaurant. It was also EPICALLY delicious. I had the best tuna melt I have ever had in my life!! It was the classic tuna salad with a mountain of melted cheddar, tomatoes, alfalfa sprouts, and fresh mushrooms on whole cracked wheat toast. I have never had something so deliciously fresh unless I was eating it out of my own garden. Kevin had the famous pot roast sandwich with steamed veggies. That right there is proof at how good the produce was. Kevin hardly ever eats veggies, but he chowed down on these.

After lunch we wandered around for a while longer and then decided to head back to town. We look our time and meandered back stopping at a few places along the way but it wasn’t anything truly out of the ordinary. All in all it was the perfect vacation. *sigh* We really needed it.

Anyway… it’s late and I’m still pretty tired after the trip. Until later Bloggies. πŸ™‚

Well Here It Is

It pains me to have to do this, but alas. Google just isn’t cooperating with us bloggers at the moment. It keeps taking away our services slowly one by one by one. With the loss of Google Reader we’ve lost a whole world of interaction which is half of the point of blogging so… here I am.

Hello new Bloggies!! A little bit about myself and what this blog will entail. I am Kelli Hale. Wife, mom, novelist, freelance writer, and blogger. I started blogging waaaaaay back in 2008 before it was the chic popular thing to do on MySpace. Yes, I know it was lame and a terrible mistake to be using MySpace as a platform for my blogging, but that’s why I didn’t stick around for long. In 2009 I migrated over to Blogger where I was completely happy, and very well connected to the blogging community, UNTIL Google started being obnoxious and deleting all of the services that integrated Blogger into the awesome that is Google. First it was FriendConnect, then most recently it was Reader. Basically unless you were a user of Blogger you could no longer interact with your followers or find new blogs to read. I was very sad to leave especially since I had been blogging there for years and had gained many friends as well as quite a few followers.

But, it had to be done. The more and more I kept putting it off the harder and harder it was becoming to start fresh. So alas, here I am. I will try my best to import some of my favorite and previous blog posts to give you all a bit of flavor to the House of Hale. It’s nice to meet all of you! Until later Bloggies. πŸ™‚
