I did it. I took the plunge and really started marketing my book in addition to sending it off to a small publishing house for review. (Which is the main reason it’s been so quiet around here. Aside from the general WTFery of current events anyway)
Let me tell you those who don’t think social media manager is a “real” job have never had their inbox flooded with inquiries after sending out a mass marketing email. lol. So far the responses I’ve received have been overwhelmingly positive, but I’m waiting for the negative reviews to show up. I know not everyone will be supportive or encouraging. It’s statistically impossible lol. So I’m waiting on baited breath replying to emails every spare moment of my day, trying to sell myself via my book.
It’s weird… putting my life story out there for people to critique. I mean I have this, I’ve had this for years, but I never reached out to my audience the way I’m reaching out to the literary world. My audience here found me. I’m reaching really far to find my audience for the book.
I guess it has a lot to do with the fact that book are a relatively dead art form. Publishing isn’t as prestigious as it used to be, and sales of physical books aren’t raking in any sort of cash flow as they did in the day before eReaders.
Anyway… so far I’ve gotten a decent start dipping my toes in the self promotion pool. We’ll see what happens!
