Today I am thankful for my messy house. My piles of laundry, the toys strewn all over the place, my furniture covered in animal hair, and the dishes piled on the counter waiting to be washed. My house is a mess not because I’m lazy, but because I spend my time doing other more important things.
Playing with my Little and allowing her to grow and explore by tearing things off of their shelves, throwing her toys all over the living room, that’s more important. Making sure she has a healthy breakfast, lunch and dinner prepared and served to her, that’s more important that keeping every dish clean at every moment. Making sure she has clean clothes that fit, and is warm and dry, that’s more important than having her clothes folded neatly in her dresser drawer. Spending time talking with and listening to the adventures of Kevin’s day when he gets home from a long day at work, preparing him dinner, getting the Little in bed, that’s more important than dragging out the vacuum every time the dog jumps on the couch or some cereal spills on the floor (we do have a dog y’know lol) to me living with a bit of clutter is worth all of those other things.
Time is short, my mess with be there tomorrow, and the cold hard fact of reality is that my Little or my husband may not. If I get one more moment with them that I wouldn’t have by rushing around trying to make my house “perfect” I would consider my life a success.
That’s not to say that I just abandon all sense of cleanliness lol. I don’t. In fact that was the inspiration for this post. I’m up, dressed, coffee in hand staring at a pile of dishes with my name on them. Lol. It’s the massive cleaning before guests arrive next week spree today. Doing all of those things that I’ve neglected over the last week. Lol. Until later Bloggies 🙂
