My usual morning routine consist of waking up, tending to the Little, and sitting down with my computer to write. Most of my writing energies have been focused on NaNo, but most other times I sit down to blog.
This morning I gave Nora her breakfast, and sat down to finish a chapter I’d fallen asleep in the middle of last night. Because I was still having a little trouble focusing after my major personal break through at the beginning of the week I popped my head phones halfway on and started up my Spotify radio. The first song that shuffled into my play list was Quiet Riot’s Metal Health. I’d added it to a playlist from a movie soundtrack but I hadn’t actually listened to it until this morning.
For those not familiar with the song the lyrics go like this:
“Bang your head! Metal Health’ll drive you mad
Bang your head! Metal Health’ll drive you mad
Metal Health’ll cure your crazy
Metal Health’ll cure your mad
Metal Health is what we all need
It’s what you have to have”
I immediately started laughing. It was pretty much perfect, especially since when you’re listening to it the lyrics sound like MENTAL health. It immediately brightened my mood, and pulled me pretty much completely out of my funk. It also started a flurry of inspiration to get me refocused on my book. The rest of my songs that have shuffled in since I started working on everything this morning have only continued my upbeat mood. Let me tell you Bloggies, I don’t know about you, but I think it’s pretty hard to claim that there’s no God up there at work in your life.
Whatever you believe is up to you, and that’s fine. I’m not here to argue religion with anyone. I’m just saying it’s days like this that inspire hope for me, especially in the tiny random events such as these.
Back to novel writing. Until later Bloggies. 🙂
