Sand and Storms

Yesterday morning Nora and I got up early fully prepared to enjoy an afternoon at the pool. We had our shades, our swim suits, and sunscreen. We hopped in the car and trekked out to the pool. Upon arrival we were sadly disappointed to learn that the pool was closed due to a chlorine imbalance. We were bummed, but we still had a good time hanging out with Aunt Amy. We went shopping and had delicious Mexican food. Nora ate half of an avacado and a side of pintos and cheese. Lol she loves her Mexican food. That and menus. Everywhere we go to eat she snatches a menu and “reads” it intently until the server returns to take our order and collect the menus lol.

We had been anticipating the bad weather all afternoon, but I hadn’t really been paying attention to the news or anything until we got home. I probably shouldn’t have even bothered with the news, and lived in blissful ignorance. When I flipped on the weather all I heard was doom and gloom. We were smack dab in the middle of the High Risk zone and they were saying there was a 100% chance of tornados, and the winds were going to be dangerous and power outages were going to be wide spread and that we should have an emergency evacuation plan in place and be prepared to use it. Sooooooo Kevin and I talked it over and we decided the best course of action was for Nora and I to pack up and head South out of the path of the storm. Which we did.

I was a wreck leaving Kevin at home to face impending doom alone, but all of my anxiety and fretting was unfounded. The storm hit the North end of our county, but never actually made it to Nowheresville. In fact Kevin said it hardly new rained. I mean it was a mere ten miles North of the house and everything with the exception of the widespread tornados actually happened as the weather people predicted so I suppose our extra caution wasn’t insane, but…. It was still a whole lot of stress and traveling that I wasn’t prepared to do in the middle of the week again.

Nora could sense my anxiety too so she fought sleep until 3am and woke up again at 8. This mama is tired. Even more tired than I was at the beginning of the week. I think Kevin has tomorrow off though so we can rest, relax and recover.

Anyway, we need to get back on the road. Until later Bloggies! 🙂
